Go grocery shopping in Beijing is not so bad concerning the range of products. Of course it's not like home but you can't expect that either. But the worst part is the procedure of paying the food! They have no long cashier, so you stand with all the food in one small place, so when you are packing your stuff in plastic bags (those thin that rustle, uhu...), you stop the customer waiting in line behind you. Then you shall pay... Cash or card is OK (not VISA or MasterCard though, only domestic bank cards). You have to both write in the pin code and sign the receipt. At this place the girl had to lift the box in the cash machine, take the card receipt and put it in one pile with other receipts with rubber band around. Only that took about ten seconds (that doesn't sound that long but think of the situation in a shop, ten seconds are loooong). So the lines are long and it all takes time. Any one heard of work flow management? Don't think so. If some one has the mission in life to implement this in China - welcome! But don't think they will understand the point of it...
